2011 Post-race Thoughts

Hi all! Firstly, I’d like to apologize for not posting sooner. Even after race day, there is still a lot we had to do. Secondly, yay! The race was more than I could have imagined. This was the biggest year yet with 217 women and girls crossing the finish line. Of course, none of this could have been made possible without our sponsors, so a big shout out to them! Also, I’ll like to recognize all my volunteers who helped. Their help made things so much smoother. Behind the scenes, people helped stuff bags and organize shirts the night before. Many were up with me at the crack of dawn to help set-up and assist with registration. And, at the end of it all, folks helped pick up trash, break down all the tents and clean up. Many, many thanks to them too!

As for everyone who participated—I hope you had a great time! I know I did. There is just something very powerful about looking out on a parking lot full of women with a common goal. It means a lot to me to get your support. I saw some familiar faces of people who have participated in previous years which is awesome. I saw a ton of new face too! I hope to see everyone again next year.

Looking ahead to next summer, I’d like to encourage everyone to try to bring someone else with you whether it’s a friend, sister, mother, co-worker, niece, or any other significant women in your life! I’ve got my fingers crossed that next year we can big this years’ numbers and get more than 217 women and girls out there. Also, I’m hoping mother nature will allow us to have a fabulous rally and expo the night before the event next year!
Hope everyone had as great of a time as I did!
